How compression works

We read your image, normalize its orientation, then resize it only if the source exceeds the target. For platform mode, quality-based JPEG or WebP encoding keeps the file small without visible loss. For target mode, we binary search the quality level to hit your requested size as closely as possible.

What formats are supported?

JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP (GIF and BMP are supported and converted to WebP).

Will I lose quality?

We only downscale, never upscale, and we bias toward higher quality over smaller size. If a target is too aggressive we warn you and offer to keep a better-quality version.

Is my image uploaded?

No. All processing runs locally via the Canvas API in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
